Neutropenia

Definition:(noun) a condition of the blood, in which your white blood cells have a low number of neutrophils. Neutrophils, a type of white blood cells, is part of your immune system and helps to combat bacterial infections. Since both types of treatment can destroy the red and white blood cells, it is important to take a test complete blood count (CBC) often during treatment. A CBC will count the different types of blood cells. Your doctor will recommend appropriate treatment.

Treatments include Neulasta or on Neupogen (filgrastim), both of which can stimulate the production of white blood cells. When you are working the injections, a bone pain, which can be alleviated an immersion in a warm bath, or taking Tylenol.
